“What is the practical use of i-Pad 2 for Oracle Consultant?
Apart from the general use of i-Pad to View Photos, web pages, Movies, Podcast and reading mails. There are some interesting work related apps coming from Oracle.
With i-Pad 2 all your Oracle HTML Pages will open effortlessly, hence all workflow related notifications can be viewed and acted upon accordingly with ease of user interface, when compared to do the same task from your smart phones. I-Pad dives you a good clear display of characters on its 10 inch screen.
I have seen in our company most of the people in the top hierarchy bench love to work with i-Pad and enjoy logging in to Oracle Apps through their i-Pad.
But still opening the Oracle Forms screen weather 11.5.10.2 or R-12 it was not possible just before Oracle launched its Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure provides a complete solution for managing, hosting, and providing access to virtualized desktop operating systems hosted in the datacenter.
You will have to install the Oracle VM in your server or standalone PC which has network connectivity to access your companies Oracle Application server. Once it’s done you can install your own virtual Operating System in your server using Oracle VM and from your i-Pad 2 you can connect to this virtual machine using the Oracle VDI Client available as free apps and work on Oracle Application as you will be working in your desktop. The software allows users to access the same desktop environment from many different client devices and locations, enabling disaster recovery, remote office and work from home.
This helps me practically, when I am on the travel to different Operating Unit locations of the client, I can address any urgent call just with my i-Pad connected to my mobile internet or to my mobile personal hotspot 3G router. It has got proven 10 Hours battery life for me to work on the i-Pad for a whole day even. I can do the same with my laptop, but with i-Pad it’s less cumbersome.
For the consultants working away from your country, you can just call your near and dear ones with any of the free SIP clients or Social Chat sites Yahoo, Skype or Google to have video chat or voice chat, no worries of thinking my battery may drain in the middle of the conference or I may have to terminate the call when there is a final boarding call for me. It’s just simply mobile for this application.
It’s a beautiful piece of gadget to read e-books, Presentations or b-logs; I love to read my favorites when I am on the travel.
And still there are numerous applications that will assist you in your day to day life.
